A mini environmental festival was held in Valentines Park, Ilford, East London on 24 February. Deferred from Valentines day due to the high wind, the gathering was held in a corner of the park being re-wilded by the local community.
Representatives of different faith groups and the local humanist group joined in the planting of trees. Prayers were said and hopes and aspirations expressed for the polluted brook which runs through the park. Speakers included the Humanist Mayor of Redbridge, Councillor Roy Emmett, and Jo Blackman, Council Cabinet for the environment. There were poetry readings and singing.
Similar celebrations are held around the country on Valentines day to show the importance of love for our environment across our communities.
